Steve Brine addressed a major conference in Winchester today (Friday 7th March) as hundreds of delegates came together to discuss reoffending.

The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP had been asked by the High Sheriff of Hampshire, Rupert Younger, to bring a Westminster perspective to the event, and as well as delivering his keynote speech on his work on Parliament's Justice Select Committee, and their Texas trip last summer, Steve joined the panel for a Q&A session afterwards.

Joining Steve on the podium was the local Police and Crime Commissioner, Simon Hayes, and Greg Berman, from New York-based 'Center for Court Innovation'. The conference heard the perspective of Mr Hayes, as well as a fascinating account of how crime and reoffending levels have fallen in parts of America from Mr Berman.

Speaking afterwards, Steve said: "I am just so pleased a conference on this subject is taking place in my constituency. It is exactly what we should be doing to drive down the costs on our criminal justice system, reoffending rates of course, and the terrible costs they have if left unchanged."
