Twyford Mens Breakfast

Steve Brine went to Twyford on Saturday 2nd September as he addressed the informal Men's Breakfast, associated with Twyford Parish Church.

The 8:30am gathering had asked Steve to discuss what it is like to be a Christian in politics, he explained that being an MP "is what I do, it's not who I am."

He told how the job was the best in the world, and how being an MP presented the opportunities for meeting a wonderful range of people. He outlined the work that Christians in Parliament do, cross-party, across the House, and touched on the words of Jo Cox, saying that there is more that unites us than divides us.

Finally, he touched on the fact that while it is a great job, and an important job with heavy responsibility, there are misconceptions about the role.

He said: "First and foremost I am a constituency MP. Every MP has a blank canvass and will live and die by their record. You have to look yourself in the eye, and it's seldom as black and white as it appears."
