Steve Brine is backing the Debt Advice Foundation, a registered national debt education and advice charity for people who need help with money matters.

The charity provides users with free access to a range of tools and practical guides on how to manage money effectively, budget and negotiate directly with creditors. It also seeks to ensure people are aware of the range of free sources of support and advice that exists for those who need help.

Managing Director David Rodger said: “With the country facing tough times ahead, it is inevitable that demand for debt advice is going to rise, putting strain on the existing advice infrastructure.  That’s why it’s never been more important that people are aware of the range of sources of free advice that are available to them.  If you’re worried about debt, it’s vital that you seek help from a national debt charity such as Debt Advice Foundation, National Debtline or from your local CAB as soon as possible.

“Many people feel reluctant to share their money worries even though financial difficulties often come about through no fault of their own.  A debt often becomes unmanageable as the result of a life event that is difficult to plan for such as job loss, illness, pregnancy or the breakdown of a relationship.  The important thing to remember is that there is always a solution and the sooner you seek help, the less severe that solution is likely to be.

“At the heart of the charity’s philosophy is the prevention and cure of consumer debt problems in the UK.  As well as helping those that are experiencing financial difficulties today access the advice and support that they need, we’re also investing in financial education to influence how the next generation engages with debt.”

Steve added: “I am delighted to back the charity, and would encourage anyone who feels they need a helping hand to check out the broad and excellent range of services they have to offer.”
