WTN give blind and partially sighted people access to local news by reading extracts from the Hampshire Chronicle, ensuring they receive truly local news they may miss out on from television and radio.
Royal Mail deliver free of charge the memory sticks the stories are sent out on, and the cost of production is covered by fund-raising and donations.
Steve said: “This is a fantastic charity which really seeks to square the circle when it comes to providing media access to the blind and partially sighted. I was delighted to visit today and join in the reading, and pass all my congratulations on to the team for the tremendous work they do.”
The volunteers meet every Thursday evening to discuss story content, and swing into action with the recordings on Friday morning. They always welcome any visitors, and would be pleased to see anyone interested in helping them provide their service.
