Winchester and Chandler's Ford MP Steve Brine joined a gathering at King Alfred's Statue on the morning of Saturday 4th June to wave off a coachload of members of the Eastleigh Gurkha Association as they travelled to Aldershot for a Nepalese festival.

Joined by young Emily, the MP wanted to show his support for the association, which is applying for charity status, as they travelled to take part in their colourful national dance and music celebration.

Speaking afterwards, Steve said: "I know the association has only recently been formed, but the hugely valuable welfare work done by members has actually been going on for very many years.

"I was honoured to take Emily down to the Broadway to give them a good send off, and I hope they all had a wonderful time at the festival."
