Prospective MP donned his pinny recently to help out over a busy lunchtime at popular Cathedral eatery.

Steve Brine spent a shift working tables at the Cathedral Refectory last Friday (December 4 2009).

The Refectory is a purpose built restaurant with a high vaulted glass roof and steel structural supports. The building has won several awards for both its design and food.  It is staffed largely by volunteers, organised by Sarah Robinson, although some members are full-time cathedral employees.

Speaking after his shift, Steve said; “I have worked in a lot of pubs and restaurants in the past so knew it would be hard work.  I really enjoyed myself though, everyone working there is so friendly and so are the customers.  I was only too happy to help out, especially at this busy time of year when so many people are in town to attend the Christmas Market and Ice Rink.”

The Cathedral Refectory offers a full range of refreshments every day from 9.30am until 5.00pm (March to October) and 9.30am to 4.30pm (November to February).
