South Wonston certainly saw some sunshine before the rain on Saturday (27 July) but it also welcomed local MP Steve Brine to the village who held a street surgery outside the Post Office.

The event, which forms part of Steve's Summer Tour 2013, was a huge success and saw Steve joined by popular local city councillor Stephen Godfrey.

Steve says; "The event was well publicised in the village and people responded brilliantly, we had a queue of residents wanting to talk for almost two and-a-half hours!  I think these street surgeries are a great way for me as the MP and the local councillors to engage with residents and the people of South Wonston clearly agree!

"There were so many issues raised ranging from the motocross, the proposed wind farm at Bullington Cross and local bus services but it was broadband provision that came up time and time again.  Progress is painfully slow in some parts of my constituency but we are on-track to deliver superfast broadband across the country by 2015 as we promised and the Broadband UK programme, which is being delivered through Hampshire County Council locally, is very welcome.  I will be keeping a very close eye on this one I assure you.

"A big thank you to the residents who came along on Saturday morning; we hope to do this again soon and will be in touch."
