Steve Brine met the Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt this week to press the case for funding superfast broadband in Winchester & Chandler's Ford.

The Government has announced it is investing £530 million to deliver its promise of rolling out superfast broadband across the country. Funding allocations will be decided in the coming weeks based on local need.

Steve said: "The Government's commitment to rolling out superfast broadband will have a real impact on the economy here in Winchester & Chandler's Ford. Businesses depend on fast and reliable communications and this kind of investment is exactly what our community needs.

"I wanted to make the case for funding directly with the Culture Secretary so that he knows just important broadband is to my constituents."

Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt added: "It was great to hear from Steve. He made a passionate case on behalf of his local residents and one that I will be considering carefully.

"I am confident that working with my colleagues and local authorities up and down the country we'll be able to deliver the broadband network that everyone deserves."
