The Winchester MP was delighted to join the team as they also said a thank you to Co-op customers.
‘Chair Pig’ Robert Sanders takes up the story: “There are two important reasons for us being photographed and video’d to-day at the Co-op. First, Southern Co-operative set a generous and ambitious £15,000 target for our Community card fund this year. We are delighted to announce that we’ve received a terrific response to this fundraising campaign, and after 7 months have reached the half way mark. Today is about saying a big ‘thank you’ to all card carrying Co-op customers for their support.
“Secondly, we were delighted to read in last month’s Forum that Steve had given The Alresford Pigs Association a mention in Parliament.”
Steve had mentioned the Association among many other community groups across the constituency as MPs debated the merits of the Big Society.
Robert continued: “We wrote to him to thank him for our first ever parliamentary mention, and for supporting the Co-op Community card initiative – an initiative that will allow the Pigs to support even more needy causes in our local community this year.”
Steve added: “It was a pleasure to spend some time with the guys here this morning. I will never stop being amazed at the true depth and variety of so many people across Winchester & Chandler’s Ford, and the enrichment it provides our area.
“I was so pleased to hear they have already reached the halfway point in their fundraising target, and I know that Co-op Community cards are available in store, so do pop in to find out more.”
