Temporary closure of GP surgery turns out to be ... temporary

Residents in Kings Worthy will be pleased to learn their GP surgery, in Pound Road, is to re-open on Monday 23 February.

The facility, which is run by Friarsgate Surgery, closed just before Christmas due to problems with the building and issued a statement on its website which said the move was temporary while they carried out repairs on the City Council owned premises.

Winchester MP Steve Brine was contacted by concerned constituents and made urgent inquiries with the Practice, NHS England and with Winchester City Council to get the facts and get the surgery back open as soon as possible.

He says; "As usual, it was a team effort among local councillors and residents, working with me as the MP, to get the right result for residents. All credit to WCC for acting so swiftly to get the work done and the surgery back up and running.

"Friarsgate said the closure was temporary and it was temporary. I saw it as my job to reassure, not scare, constituents about the situation and am glad to see the surgery will return to the village this month."
