Steve took some time on Friday 15th July to drop into Westgate School in Fulflood to meet with the new headteacher and take a tour of the site.
Westgate is a mixed comprehensive for 11-16 year olds, and consistently achieves excellent results.
The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP discussed a number of issues with new head Paul Nicholson, including Academy Status, controversial plans for a University of Winchester Technical College in the city and the English Baccalaureate.
As well as taking in the classrooms, they took a look at the on-site nursery, and the Rotherley boarding house, which houses students whose parents often work overseas.
