Running from 25th-31st July, many local businesses and professionals have already pledged support for the event, which will host a range of events in locations such as The Brooks Centre and the newly-refurbished Guildhall.
Ex-Peter Symonds College student Vikki Weston was one of those who arranged to see Steve to tell him all about their plans. She said: "It's great to have Steve's support and we loved the opportunity to come along and tell Steve more about our plans.
Vikki, who is starting at London College of Fashion in September, added; "We are very excited about Winchester Fashion Week and hope for it to become an annual event."
Steve added: "It was great to hear all about the first ever Winchester Fashion Week, and Vikki and her team are really up for it. They've all been working very hard to make this a success, and they really deserve everything they achieve from it.
"The week itself is crammed full of shows and events, and is another example of how young people here in Winchester have got so much to offer and are truly inspiring."
