Our MP got stuck in this morning as the Winchester Litterpickers made a welcome return to some kind of normality.

The group welcomed Steve Brine for some much-needed picking in the city centre and he got busy in the City Road/Jewry Street area.

Speaking afterwards he said; “I’ve supported the Winchester Litterpickers for years and they really are the best of our big society in the city. The volunteers turn out whatever the weather and tidy us all up. We are so lucky to have them.”

The MP spent time chatting with volunteers and thanked them for all their hard work in the city.

The group has been working for the people of Winchester since 1995.

Hampshire Chronicle column - Farewell

Thursday, 30 May, 2024
My final column is perhaps more reflective than usual but I hope you will forgive me as I prepare to formally step down as Parliament is formally Dissolved ahead of the General Election on July 4. Fourteen years ago, in May 2010, I was first elected as our MP.
