Peter Symonds College in Winchester has been successful in bidding and the Government have awarded it investment from the Post-16 Capacity Fund.
Peter Symonds College will be able to develop new high quality flexible buildings or facilities, to ensure there will be sufficient places for 16 - 19 learners in the area.
Speaking upon hearing of the award last week, local MP Steve Brine said; “Peter Symonds College has done very well out of the capacity fund which is great news for Winchester and the ongoing quality we’re able to offer our young people in post-16 education. I look forward to seeing the new classroom block when it’s built.”
Mr Brine praised the award in the House of Commons last night, as he invited the Secretary of State for Education to visit Peter Symonds; saying; “I wonder whether the Secretary of State, in his new role, would make a glorious return to Winchester to come and see what excellent post-16 education looks like in the heart of Hampshire.”
The Secretary of State, Nadhim Zahawi responded; “I will certainly look at the diary to see if I can make time, I know the Under-Secretary of State for Skills is gagging to get down to have a look at Peter Symonds as well.”
