Early last week a call went out from Hursley parish council to help the Ukrainian refugees with donations of all sorts of necessary goods and money. This was organised by David Killeen, chair of Hursley parish council, a large team of supporters and the Polish Club of Southampton.
Word went around and people appeared in Hursley from all over Winchester to help. People from the very old to the very young, several with tears in their eyes, arrived to give.
The team pre-sorted items and two large covered trailers were delivered to Southampton, ready to be delivered to Poland earlier this week.
“The whole experience has been truly humbling and very moving to be involved with. Thank you so much to all those who donated and helped to achieve this” said David

Steve Brine MP said; “Winchester really came up with the goods this weekend, all brought together brilliantly by David Killeen and the Hursley team. On an individual level I think many people feel so sad and helpless at what is taking place in Ukraine so this was one small way we could help.”
