Local Member of Parliament, Steve Brine, visited Sun Hill Infant School in Alresford as plans are set in motion for exciting new opportunities.
Plans have been set out for the school to lower the age range to enable nursery children aged from 3 years to attend with effect from 1st January 2023.
Steve, who in Parliament chairs the All-Party Group for Childcare and Early Education, following his visit and meeting with the headteacher, Kim Owen-Jones, said; “This is a really exciting opportunity for the school and local community, bringing a new early education option to parents in and around Alresford.
“A lot of work has gone into this proposal and I could see immediately how prepared Kim and the team at Sun Hill are. I look forward to seeing the outcome and continuing my close relationship with the school as they embark on this new journey.”
The long-standing headteacher, Kim Owen-Jones, added; “Alresford hasn't had a preschool in the town for some years now, and we are really excited by the prospect of being able to offer a high-quality, early years setting for 3/and 4-year-olds at Sun Hill Infant School from January 2023.
“Initially we will open for mornings only (9am-12pm) but we hope to be able to extend our hours as more children join us. We have an amazing team of early years experts amongst our existing staff, but will also be looking to recruit new team members in the near future.
If you have a child who will be 3 years old in January 2023 and you would like to know more, please do get in touch via our school website and book a visit!”
