Steve Brine joined the Friends of Winchester Cathedral for one of their regular Friday morning coffee mornings in the historic Undercroft.
The Friends of Winchester Cathedral, which Steve is a member, were established in 1931 as an independent charity which aim to assist the Cathedral. Since its’ creation by Dean Selwyn, the Friends have given over £10 million to support the Cathedral and its projects.
The Friends were the first local group to take part in his popular virtual visits to the Houses of Parliament during the Covid-19 lockdowns.
Among other activities the Friends regularly hold monthly Friday coffee mornings where members have a chance to catch-up with each other over a hot brew. Steve popped in last week to meet members and chat to Chairman, Bruce Parker.
Steve said : “The Friends of Winchester Cathedral are an important part of the fabric and many of the investments made inside our Cathedral come from their fundraising. Thank you to all of them for everything they do for our historic cathedral and especially to Bruce Parker for his leadership.”
Bruce Parker, the Chairman of the Friends, added : “Steve is a great supporter of the Cathedral and clearly very proud of it. We were delighted to welcome him to the coffee morning.”
