Winchester MP, Steve Brine, was invited to join village pre-school manager Lara Webster at Colden Common Pre-School today.
Steve, who also chairs the all-party group for Childhood & Early Education in Parliament enjoyed touring the setting, witnessing the vast opportunities for the children and meeting the dynamic and knowledgeable team.
During the visit Steve and Lara discussed future plans for two-year funding, Ofsted requirements and the other difficulties facing all independent charitable pack-away Early Years settings. This is an area that both parties are extremely passionate about and are hoping to tackle jointly, the issues and concerns raised for these childcare establishments.
Steve Brine said; "I have always enjoyed visiting Colden Common Pre-School’s community fundraising events but it was nice to pop-in and have a proper chat about how they're doing and some of the issues they're facing at this time. That is really useful to me as our local MP but also given my national role. I wish the pre-school the very best of luck with their upcoming Scarecrow Festival on 8th October."
