Members of the Plymouth Brethren Church came to the House of Commons today (Monday 14 January) for a reception among MPs and Peers.

The event, held in the Terrace Marquee was primarily a musical event sponsored by Michael Ellis MP and includes a live band and youth choir (pictured).

A number of the young members attending also gave short speeches about their faith and the work of their particular chapter.
Around 100 Brethren attended the event.

Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP Steve Brine, who has an active Brethren Church community in his constituency, dropped into the event and said it was good to welcome them to the House of Commons; "The Plymouth Brethren has been very much on MPs minds of late due to the high profile dispute they are having with the Charity Commission over the status of their church. This has led to several debates in Parliament and many MPs have made representations on their behalf with Ministers and the
Commission to see if it can be resolved.

"Today's reception was however, just a celebration of Plymouth Brethren music and culture and I was so glad to be able to drop-by and meet a few of them."
