Steve Brine has become a founding member of a parliamentary group set up to promote the interests of British Hindus.

The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP will now work with colleagues on a cross-party basis, to celebrate and promote their culture and raise issues specific to the British Hindu community in Parliament. The group is chaired by Conservative MP Bob Blackman and will be run by the Hindu Lawyers Association (HLA) who will provide support to the group.

Steve said: "A group of us have been working towards the creation of a strong forum for British Hindus to interact with Parliament since being elected, so I am delighted that this cross-party group has now formed and is receiving a lot of support across the board. We look forward to hosting a lively programme of discussions and events which will provide a platform for the Hindu community to positively engage and find its voice within our political system.

"I would urge all local Hindus to be in touch with me so I can better represent them in Parliament."
