Housing for young people raised in Commons

Steve Brine raised the issue of housing for young people in the House of Commons on Monday 10th November.

The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP has long campaigned on the issue with Parliamentary colleagues, and he praised Help to Buy, which has allowed 54,000 families who can afford mortgage payments but would have found the deposit impossible, to buy a home since March 2012.

Mr Brine pushed the government to deliver an extra 100,000 starter homes at a 20% discount, and Communities Minister Brandon Lewis MP confirmed that the Conservatives want to ensure that the policy is delivered, giving many more people the opportunity to get onto the first rung of the housing ladder.
