Steve Brine held his first cancer roundtable meeting in Westminster on Thursday 12th October.

The Cancer Minister had invited representatives from a whole host of cancer organisations and charities, and said afterwards that he found the session 'incredibly helpful'.

The group discussed the emerging cancer workforce strategy, due to be published in December, and heard from the charities about the important of protecting the integrity and value of the Cancer Patient Experience Survey.

Other subjects discussed included the accountability of Cancer Alliances, early diagnosis and the future look of the cancer dashboard.

Steve Brine said: "As the new Cancer Minister, I found it incredibly helpful and salute the dedication, knowledge and obvious passion for the work everyone has.

"My role is everyday inspiring in itself but the group today add to that significantly and I hope they know that I greatly value their input."

The following organisations took part in the session:

Breast Cancer Now, Breast Cancer Care, Breast Cancer Haven, Beating Bowel Cancer, Bowel Cancer UK, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust, Target Ovarian Cancer, Ovarian Cancer Action, Ovacome, Prostate Cancer UK, Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, Bloodwise, Teenage Cancer Trust, CLIC Sargent, Cancer 52, Anthony Nolan, Cancer Research UK and MacMillan.
