In total, 22 voluntary and community groups will be joining with Winchester's annual Big Lunch festivities to create the first One Big Table / Festival of Volunteering celebration in the grounds of Winchester Cathedral, as the climax to National Volunteering Week on 5th June.
One Big Table – now in its third year - offers a kaleidoscope of entertainment, including music, dance and storytelling from many cultures plus food to try. A taster ticket offers three trial portions of world cuisine for just £4.
The event is completely free (apart from food) and kicks off at Midday in the Cathedral Outer Close, next to the Square. The event will be officially opened at 1215 by the Right Worshipful the Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Barry Lipscomb and Steve Brine, MP for Winchester & Chandler's Ford.
The Mayor of Winchester said: "Our local organisations do so much to support the whole Winchester community. I look forward to joining you all on June 5th".
Steve Brine added: "I really love the whole idea of the Festival of Volunteering and combining it with the very successful One Big Table event; if anywhere can make it work, Winchester can."
