Steve Brine has welcomed extended opening times at Chandler's Ford Library from the new year.

Chandler's Ford Library will be extending its opening hours from January 5, opening at the earlier time of 9am every morning.

The new opening time of 9am instead of 9.30am will mean the library is open an extra three hours a week. With its new hours and new external face lift, it is hoped the library will become even more enticing for people to visit.

Chandler’s Ford Library is also developing a thriving programme of evening events for the new year which will include author talks, local history talks and daytime workshops. Details will be available on the website and from the Library in the near future.

Chandler’s Ford is also trialling the new Playaway audio format. Playaway is a pre-loaded digital audio player the size of a small pack of cards. Titles in stock include the latest adult fiction and non-fiction. Playaway is available on a four week loan for just 60p.

Steve Brine, prospective Conservative MP for Winchester & Chandler's Ford said: “Hampshire County Council always strives to meet the needs of local people, the extended opening hours was a direct response to customer requests. I hope with the new opening times during the week and on Saturday’s, will enable more residents to use the great services that Chandler’s Ford Library has to offer.”
