The Hampshire Careers Network, which is based in Winchester, works on a not-for-profit basis to help local people find that often illusive job by combining the skills of a number of experienced professionals to help.
It is the brainchild of Winchester resident Bob Menlove. He has worked in the public and private sector for Central government, in Accountancy, and for many Blue-chip companies.
Bob says; “From my work in consulting, I can offer many ideas for getting your next role. I am honoured to be working on this initiative, as it’s a collaborative approach that will help get so people many moving in the right direction.”
Prospective Winchester MP Steve Brine is backing the network and has been helping the team locally; “Unfortunately I am in contact regularly now with constituents who have lost their jobs because of the recession and they need our help. Of course we have many statutory organisations, such as the local council and Job Centre Plus but efforts such as the Hampshire Careers Network are an important part of the mix.
"I first met Bob Menlove in April 2009 and was mighty impressed with his energy and enthusiasm to make a difference locally, which is something we have very much in common! I have been able network Bob with some key individuals in the city and look forward to working further with his team – and to seeing if we can help local people get back to work sooner rather than later.”
