Conservative Party Chairman Eric Pickles MP visited Winchester last week for the annual dinner of the Winchester Conservatives.

Around 100 members and supporters met for the event, held at South Winchester Golf Club.

Prospective Winchester MP Steve Brine, who this week marks three years as the Conservative candidate for next General Election, commented; “It was lovely to have the formidable figure of Eric Pickles here in Winchester.  He reminded everyone that David Cameron still has a mountain to climb if we are form the next Government and he stressed that the only way Winchester could be sure of seeing the back of Gordon Brown and help bring about real change in our country was to elect a Conservative MP when it gets the chance next year.”

Mr Pickles answered questions in a wide range of subjects including Afghanistan, the environment and Conservative plans to revive the UK economy.
