Lord Coe, who is chair of the London 2012 organising committee, told Steve how the Games are not just about two weeks of sport, but about taking the many opportunities the event provides, including Get Set, the London 2012 education programme designed to help local children take the most from the 2012 Games.
Speaking afterwards, Steve said: “2012 may be the London games but Winchester is very much at the heart of the Olympics through the involvement of many local businesses and schools. It was good to chat with Lord Coe and many of the organising committee at the event in Parliament today, especially as I got the chance to discuss how we can work together to bring Winchester and London even closer together over the next two years.”
