Winchester MP Steve Brine dropped in at the Micheldever Station Fete on Saturday August 28th, and enjoyed the event's very sporting theme.

Steve had been asked to hold the 5-a-side trophy, which was keenly competed for as a team from the Half Moon and Spread Eagle took on The Warren Juniors. At the end of the contest, Steve presented the trophy to Gareth Saunders, new manager of the popular Micheldever pub.

There was also the traditional coconut shy, and a silent auction, where prizes included a flight in a hot air balloon and tickets to ‘Horseology’. Even the village’s pets joined in the day, with the Fun Dog Show and a Dog Agility Course.

Steve said: “One of the best things about being the new MP is receiving invitations to fetes all across the area. I’ve had a fantastic time meeting people over the summer, and today was no exception.

“I’m a keen football fan, if you can describe any Spurs fan as such, and really enjoyed the game, and I’d like to pay tribute to the organisers, who ran a wonderful day raising nearly £2000 towards rebuilding the sports pavilion on Warren Field.”
