Steve Brine MP was guest of honour at the Age Concern 50th anniversary of lunch clubs at the Baptist Church Hall on Thursday September 30.

The anniversary coincided with Older Persons’ Day 2010, and the event was attended by nearly 90 guests, who joined Trustee David Selwood and Patron of Age Concern Lady Wakeham.

As well as enjoying a fine lunch, Steve addressed the guests, before they enjoyed a slice of special anniversary cake.

Speaking afterwards, Steve said: “I was delighted to be asked to come along and help mark not only Older Persons’ Day but the 50th anniversary of Winchester Lunch Clubs. It was great to see so many volunteers and Trustees, and I enjoyed taking the opportunity to discuss a whole host of topics with everyone present.

“I’d like to pass on my congratulations to all concerned, and here’s to the next 50 years of lunch clubs.”
