Winchester Mayor Cllr Richard Izard was on-hand to cut the ribbon at a brand new constituency 'shop' opened by Steve Brine MP on Friday.
Cllr Izard joined local shopkeepers and other community representatives along with some of the constituents Mr Brine has helped since winning the Winchester seat at this year’s General Election The office is situated next to Pickards newsagents, at 9 Stockbridge Rd in Fulflood.
Steve Brine said: "So many constituents contact me online or via social media these days, which is great, but there is no substitute for good old-fashioned face to face contact. There are of course still a number of people who don’t have internet access and they deserve to be represented as well.
Among the guests were University of Winchester Pro-Chancellor Tommy Geddes and local Fulflood Rev’d Peter Seal. There were also representatives from Cake Craze, Cartridge Plus and other business in the Stockbridge Road who are Mr Brine’s new neighbours also dropped in to toast the new shop.
Mr Brine added: ”This facility is about fulfilling my promise to be the most open and accessible MP we've had and I look forward to helping even more of my constituents now we are fully open. I am also really keen to make it a high profile place where local groups and organisations can advertise their events so if we can help, please get in touch."
