Young Minds is a charity that helps young people (aged 10-25) who have mental health issues, and they are currently running the VIK Project (Very Important Kids). YoungMinds believe that increasing the amount of counselling support available in schools would be hugely beneficial, and they are campaigning heavily for this.
Two of the charity’s representatives, Charlotte Gatherer and Daryl Nicolas met with Steve to discuss the campaign. Charlotte said: “We found the session with Mr Brine extremely helpful and it has given me lots of new avenues to explore with the Child Welfare Initiative.
“I was delighted by the interest and enthusiasm Mr Brine showed regarding young people’s mental health and am going to follow up the advice he gave.”
Steve added: “It was great to meet Charlotte and Daryl and to talk about mental health issues affecting young people. They are so passionate about the issue and are dead right in saying that we can do so much to help young people affected if we pick up mental health issues early through schools. I look forward to working with them both and others as we develop this campaign locally and nationally."
