Steve Brine has welcomed news that RHCH is backing Dying Matters week, which will run from May 16th-22nd 2011.

Without communication and understanding, death and terminal illness can be a lonely and stressful experience, both for the person who is dying and for their friends and family. Dying people and their families can experience a tremendous sense of isolation and can feel shut out of social circles and distanced from their communities.

Winchester and Eastleigh Healthcare NHS Trust is a member of the Dying Matters Coalition which has been formed as a result of the national End of Life Care Strategy. The coalition encourages people to talk about their wishes towards the end of their lives with friends, family and loved ones, including where they want to die, to help make a 'good death' the norm.

Steve Brine said: "I am delighted that the hospital is supporting Dying Matters week. Coping with the death of a loved one is one of the hardest things we all have to go through, and anything that can help people get through this process has my full support."

The Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester will be displaying information all week in the restaurant foyer and advisors will be on hand to answer any questions.
