As part of her 50th birthday celebrations, Zena Hancock plans to trek 120km along the Wall in October, and is busy working with local partners to turn the dream into reality.
Millets have already provided some subsidised hiking equipment, and Winchester Rugby Club, the Bakers Arms, the White Swan and Weeke Social Club are all supporting Zena, who hopes to be able to donate more than £3000 to the Sutton Scotney-based children's hospice.
Local MP Steve Brine said: "I have spoken to Zena to offer her my full support in this venture. As well as being the trip of a lifetime, she really wants to make a difference and as a long-standing supporter of Naomi House myself I truly wish her all the very best.
"I really hope that Winchester can rally round and give Zena all the support she needs to complete her exciting trek."
