Rob Veck (Colden Common) and Peter Richardson (Winchester) are leading a new organisation called 'Green Win' which is part of the Winchester City Council Climate Change Programme. It has been established as a social enterprise to help roll-out the Green Deal locally.
The Green Deal is the Government's flagship programme which aims to retrofit existing homes and businesses by implementing energy efficiency improvements and consequently lowering energy bills.
Rob and Peter met Energy Minister Greg Barker MP and his officials with Mr Brine at the Dept of Energy & Climate Change on Monday 4 July 2011.
Local MP Steve, who sat on the Parliamentary committee which scrutinised the Energy Bill, said after the meeting; "Having spoken in Parliament a fair bit about the Green Deal and worked our way through the legislation it was great to turn the focus to delivery on the ground in Winchester and surrounding areas.
"This programme has the potential to be truly transformative and I am more convinced than ever that its success will hinge on strong social enterprises such as 'Green Win'. It is a genuine big society answer to the significant challenge laid down by Government.
"I look forward to working with Rob and Peter as we launch the Green Deal locally next year and start delivering better insulated homes for the people I represent."
