Following pressure from cycling commuters, South West Trains has now decided not to ban bikes from all their trains over the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

As a member of the All-Party Cycling Group, Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP Steve Brine was concerned to hear of this development when he spoke to local commuters. He said: "I was quite baffled when I was made aware of this, and I know this also reached other members of my Parliamentary Group.

"However, I am now delighted that SWT have rescinded the decision in the face of public pressure and commuters from my patch will be able to make their journeys as planned."
