Six year old Liam Skeat has won Steve Brine's second Annual Christmas Card competition.
Liam, who attends St Bede Church of England School in Hyde, won the contest with a fantastically detailed drawing featuring Santa and his sleigh and reindeer, carol singers and a beautiful church.
A member of the Year One Walker Class, Liam will now see his design transformed in Steve Brine's Christmas Card, in the second time the MP has run the competition. Last year, Eleanor Ring, from Prince's Mead School, took first prize. Steve's official 2012 Christmas card will be sent out to community groups, public services, charities and local businesses, as well as the Prime Minister at No.10 and his cabinet.
Steve Brine said: "We had such a great time looking at all the designs, which came from across Winchester & Chandler's Ford. We had so many entries this year and the standard was so high.
Steve was joined in judging by Kings Worthy artist Emma Lowres, and the pair spent over an hour at the Winchester Discovery Centre on Friday 26 October deliberating the entries. This year, the First Prize is a family ticket to the pantomime courtesy of Winchester Theatre Royal, and there will also be group prizes of family tickets kindly donated by Intech Science Centre & Planetarium.
Steve added: "I am delighted that all the paintings, and there were over 400 of them, will remain on public display at the library until Christmas.
"The Christmas card competition just gets better and better and seeing the excitement on little Liam's face when we presented him with his prizes and his winning card neatly framed was just brilliant. I have hundreds to write and it makes that task much easier knowing so much effort went into designing the card."
