The Joe Glover Trust is a local charity, which was set up after 8 year old Joe fell asleep for the last time in August 2006 after a brave battle with cancer. Since that time, the Trust has raised a huge sum of money, which has supported many local families who have children affected by Cancer. Also the Trust launched a major initiative which helped establish an IT suite in the children's ward at Southampton General Hospital.
The Family Fun Day will be from 12 Noon - 5pm on Sunday 14th July, at the Denplan City Ground, Hillier Way, Abbots Barton, Winchester. There will be a host of things to keep the kids occupied, including a Fire Engine, Bouncy Castle, Face Painting as well as plenty of food and drink!
City MP Steve Brine said: "I am so pleased after all the trials and tribulations we have been through recently, that we are now in a position where the reborn club can put on this Family Fun Day. It is particularly pleasing that they have linked up with the excellent Joe Glover Trust, a fantastic charity which I met up with recently, and I wish everyone all the very best for what should be a brilliant event."
There are two games of football to watch: At 2pm there will be a game between a Joe Glover X1 - made up of many of Joe's old school friends - and a Winchester City Under 16 team.
Then, at 3.15pm (approx) Winchester City will play a crunch game - against the veterans from their FA Vase Winning Squad of 2004.
Admission to the ground is a mere £5 for Adults and/or a family including up to 4 children.
