The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP dropped in during a summer session, where a large number of boys from across Compton, Hiltingbury and Chandler's Ford were training in the nets and playing a match.
Steve showed off his bowling, and to a greater extent batting, skills, as he spent time chatting to players and staff on the baking hot recreation ground.
He said: "This is a great little cricket club and it makes every sense to bring Compton and Chandler's Ford together in this way. I saw some promising cricketers when I visited so let's hope there's a future England star in our midst.
"I love the game but never really had the chance to play it when I was growing up as the young lads I played with this afternoon no doubt noticed!"
