MP Steve Brine and local councillors, Stephen Godfrey, Barry Lipscomb and Malcolm Wright lobbied for the full £200,000 grant which was confirmed at a special meeting in Winchester yesterday (Thursday 6th March 2014).
The money will allow the hall to be modernised and improved while new changing facilities will be built allowing the continuation of a wide range of sporting and community activity. Crucially, it will allow the community of Micheldever Station to thrive.
Cllr Barry Lipscomb said: "I knew we needed to secure the full £200,000 against strong competition and wrote to Cllr Chapman stressing the local importance of re-vamping Warren Hall.
"This is a fantastic result for Micheldever Station and I am so pleased, with Steve Brine, to have been able to help the hardworking project team."
Steve Brine MP added: "This one-off capital grants fund was such an opportunity and I was determined my constituents here would not lose out so I strongly made the case for Warren Hall.
"Well done to Sue Bell, Felicity Botham and all the team for making such a compelling bid and to Cllr Keith Chapman at the County Council for listening and having faith in us."
