Steve Brine dropped into St Cross on Thursday 15th May to meet a group of youngsters at Christ Church.

Following a briefing in the House of Commons from a volunteer who works with young people at the church, Steve decided he wanted to chat to them himself to learn more about their ambitions and concerns.

Over fifty young people chatted to Steve over an evening meal, where they shared their thoughts in the 'Download' event, before they joined break out groups to discuss their faith in more detail.

Speaking afterwards, Steve said: "I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed chatting with the young people; they are a terrific bunch and really kick the media image of 'young people' into the stratosphere. Their faith was striking and so great to see; it will carry them far.

"I don't think looking back that they are any different than myself at 16-18, and I hope I was able to help a few by sharing experiences and I actually learnt a lot from them."

Anna Jacklin was one of the evening's organisers, and she said: "It was amazing to have Steve in to chat to our teenagers. Particularly during this season, the stress of exams and the pressure to do well are hugely prevalent in the lives of 14-18 year
olds.

"Steve spent time simply listening to their opinions and finding out about their lives, which gave the young people an opportunity to have their voices heard."
