Steve Brine joined the Friends of Hockley Viaduct, and assembled military personnel, on Friday 6th June, as two memorial plaques and a rail signal were officially unveiled at the site.
The Friends of Hockley Viaduct group has been in existence since 2007, and the first memorial is dedicated to the troops who travelled across the viaduct when they were based up the Itchen Valley in Avington.
And on the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings, a second memorial was unveiled in tribute to the railwaymen who looked after the viaduct.
Speaking after the ceremony, Steve Brine said: "I was extremely honoured to be here today.
"I have known Julia Sandison and the Friends of Hockley Viaduct for some time now, and it was very apt that we were here on the 70th anniversary of D-Day itself.
