Winchester Street Pastors are now recruiting for members to join a new 'early evening team' initiative.

The Street Pastors are a familiar fixture on the city centre night scene, and the new teams will now branch out to visit non-city centre areas such as the skate park, the Stoney Lane shops in Weeke and Stanmore.

Winchester Street Pastors Coordinator, Mark Hibbert-Hingston, said: "We spoke to a fast-food manager at 2am one morning and he told our team how Winchester is a much quieter place at night since we started.

"We are looking to branch out to engage with young people out and about between 6-10pm. We are also looking for new Prayer Pastors to support the valuable work done on our streets."

Steve Brine said: "The Street Pastors are a fantastic organisation, and I am delighted they are seeking to expand their operation out into the suburbs."
