Steve Brine has welcomed news that Bluestar has announced a revised timetable and new buses for its services across the region.

The operator has taken on board customer feedback and made changes to several routes and times, including its Bluestar 1 - between Southampton, Chandlers Ford and Winchester.

Andrew Wickham, Managing Director, met Steve Brine in the House of Commons in September (pictured below) to brief him on the news. He said: "We have introduced new vehicles and increased the frequency from every 20 minutes to up to every 15 because we know how important this route is for students at Peter Symonds College and others commuting between Southampton and Winchester.

"As an added enhancement to the Bluestar 1 we are also sending the peak journeys into Winchester railway station - which we know will be attractive to commuters.

"We have looked very closely at our offering here - to see where we can make improvements. And I'm happy to announce the new buses and a new timetable are now in operation."

Customers will also notice significant improvements to the length of time it takes to pay for and use the operator's payment smart card - the key.

Andrew added: "In the past, those paying for tickets in this way had to wait 48 hours before they could actually use them.

"This is still the case for many passengers in other regions of the country - and those travelling with other operators.

"But we are always looking at ways to advance the technology we use. We proved this by becoming one of the first bus operators to introduce USB ports for charging handheld devices.

"Now, we have made considerable investment to reduce the waiting time for those using the key to just three hours - and we feel this and our service enhancements will be welcomed by those travelling with us here."

Steve Brine said: "I was delighted to meet Andrew in Parliament to hear about these changes, which will I am sure be welcomed by my constituents, not least across Chandler's Ford & Hiltingbury."
