Steve Brine dropped into Winnall Primary School on Friday 13th May to meet some of the team after excellent improvements have been made to the school.

The Winchester MP met with headteacher Jon James and deputy chair of governors, Rosemary Walker, to discuss the current situation at the school alongside its future plans.

Speaking afterwards, Steve Brine said: "The school has moved in Jon James' time from an Ofsted grading of 'Requiring Improvement' to 'Good', and I can see why.

"There has been a stunning refurbishment, and I am hugely impressed. The school has transformed since I was last there, both inside and out. Results are improving and parent body engagement is too, which is fantastic.

"To sum up, it is a classic example of a Local Authority-run school which has been invested in and nurtured from a poor state, in every sense, to a very good place."
