Radio 4 regular Brian Draper, who often appears on Thought for the Day, led a conversation with Steve, Alan Lovell from the University of Winchester and Hampshire Cultural Trust, and Ellie Payne, who leads youth work at St Barnabas church in Weeke, which was observed by a range of representatives from organisations such as Winchester Basics Bank, Winchester Vineyard, the police and local councils.
Steve said: "This was the first such event organised by Churches Together in Winchester and it was very special. I hope it's repeated.
"I was honoured to be asked to take part and enjoyed very much our conversation with Brian Draper as well as our table discussions and feedback.
"Winchester has a very strong faith thread running through it, not just because of the Cathedral and all that goes with that, but the Christian foundation we have here which remains strong."
The MP also shared with the breakfast one of his favourite Psalms which is from Psalm 94:
"When I said, "my foot is slipping," your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy."
