The children have been creating stickers which will be used on nearby residents' black and green bins. The competition, which is sponsored by Belvoir Estate Agents and organised by Hampshire County Council, saw some fantastic entries, and the winner will be announced at the South Wonston Village Fete on Saturday 23rd June.
Cllr Jan Warwick, who represents the village on Hampshire County Council, said: "I know many parents and local residents will be very pleased with the innovative bin sticker idea that puts road safety as a top priority. There were so many lovely designs it was very hard to choose just one. I would like to thank the school pupils for taking part and drawing attention to this important issue."
Steve Brine MP added: "This is an excellent initiative and all credit to Cllr Warwick for bringing everyone together and putting the community in charge. I know from recent Summer Tour activity in the village, and from constituents getting in touch as well as the school, that this is a concern so it's good to see it moving forward."
