hcc budget boost for roads

An additional £420m has been made available to English local authorities to spend on road maintenance, money that has come from the hard work of British people as austerity begins to come to an end.

Steve Brine welcomed the news, particularly with the problems caused by potholes after last winter’s weather.

He said: “Councils have been working hard to streamline the process for identifying maintenance and authorising work on small repair jobs, and I am delighted local authorities will receive these funds quickly with no burdensome admin or application process.”

Cllr Rob Humby, Executive Member for Environment & Transport at Hampshire County Council, said: “We welcome any investment into the local road network, and we very much look forward to finding out what this means for Hampshire and our residents.”
